The coming week is looking like being another mild one, although it will be wetter than last week for many.

On Monday there will be patches of rain and drizzle over much of the country, with heavier spells of rain the north. Sunny spells will follow later on, but there will always be chance of some drizzle. It will be mild, with temperatures ranging from 11°C to 15°C.

After a damp to start to Tuesday for the east, heavy and more persistent rain is forecast to fall over Connacht and Ulster later in the day. Top temperatures of 11°C to 13°C are forecast.

It will remain dry over Munster and Leinster on Wednesday, but the rest of the country will see spells of rain. Temperatures on Wednesday will range from 9°C to 12°C before turning wet and windy on Wednesday night.

It will still be fairly mild on Thursday, with top temperatures of 7°C to 11°C and there will be the old classic of sunshine and showers for most. It will get cold on Thursday night, with temperatures dropping to near freezing.

There will be scattered showers on Friday for those in the west and northwest, but it will be largely dry for the rest of the country. Temperatures will range from 7°C to 10°C.

As things stand, it will be more of the same next weekend, with mild but wet conditions forecast.

Rain

It was a mostly dry week last week, with between 25% and 50% of the normal rainfall being recorded. Greater volumes are being forecast for the northern half of the country as a result of a number of low-pressure systems which are set to move in from the Atlantic.

Met Éireann is forecasting that its weather station in Malin Head will see the most rain.

Temperatures

It will be another mild week for the time of year, with temperatures running 3°C to 4°C ahead of the norm.

Drying and field conditions

There will be no change to drying and field conditions in the coming week. Well-drained soils will be trafficable but heavy or waterlogged soils will remain so in the coming weeks.
