The National Ploughing Championships runs from Tuesday to Thursday this week and the weather forecast is for a good start but an unsettled finish to the event.

Overall, there is nothing to suggest there is any prolonged dry spell on the horizon.

After a dry and bright Sunday, Monday will be another good day. However, there will be some grass frost again on Sunday night.

Grass tetany remains a threat for any stock still out.

There will be plenty of sunshine on Monday, with top temperatures of 14°C to 17°C.

On Tuesday, the first day of the Ploughing, there will be plenty of dry and bright weather again. There is chance of some patchy drizzle in the west.

Top temperatures on Tuesday will range from 15°C to 18°C.

Rain will develop on Tuesday evening and spread from the west. It will spread across the country overnight and into Wednesday.

Wednesday is set to be humid and wet, with all areas receiving rain. Temperatures will climb as high as 19°C. It will continue wet overnight, with heavy spills in most places.

Thursday will start wet, although this rain will gradually clear eastwards. However, the odd shower will follow this clearance throughout the day. It will be much less humid on Thursday than on Wednesday, with top temperatures of 13°C to 16°C.

Friday will start off dry and bright, but some drizzle will develop and spread eastwards later in the day. Top temperatures on Friday will range from 13°C to 16°C.

Looking towards the weekend, Saturday will be wet for a time with rain spreading from the west although Sunday is looking like being dry and bright.
