There was a 10.5% increase in the average land price in Co Down last year. The county average rose by £1,078/ac to stand at £11,366/ac during 2019. It represents the second-highest county average in NI and ranks number four across Ireland.

Down had the smallest range in prices in our survey, which reflects a consistent market across most parts of the county. The highest price recorded was £14,550/ac for a 30ac block in north Down. Several other top sales followed closely behind this, and less than 20% of the lots in our survey made £9,000/ac or less.

Over the past 10 years, land prices in Down have averaged £10,039/ac. Land prices in the county rose gradually over a three-year period from the low of £8,954/ac during 2013. The highest yearly average of the decade was seen in 2019.

The total volume of land publicly offered up for sale in the Mourne County last year fell by 12%, or 321ac, compared to 2018. The total number of land parcels for sale dropped from 84 to 80, and the average lot size last year stood at 29ac, compared to 32ac in 2018.
