Sitting on circa 14 acres, Thornton Park Equestrian Centre at Kilsallaghan, Swords, Co Dublin, comes to the market in immaculate condition. Developed by Suzanne Archer-Murphy from a greenfield site in 1992, perseverance, commitment and a passion for the horse industry has seen the facility mature into one of the top equestrian centres in Ireland.

It is the only British Horse Society-approved training and exam centre in north Leinster, according to Suzanne.

Starting off from humble beginnings, the facility was expanded bit by bit to now boast loose box accommodation for 58 horses and ponies. The yard is kept neat and compact to ensure ease of management of horses. Approached by a private lane lined with post-and-rail fencing, driving down the lane the quality of the facility became clear.

Suzanne’s attention to detail is evident throughout, with everything having its own place. Not so much as a saddle was out of place.

A number of different services are run at the centre, including horse riding lessons for all levels and a livery service.

Facilities

There is an array of buildings on site. The main building is home to a 75m x 25m floodlit indoor arena that can be subdivided into two arenas of 37.5m x 25m each. Also included in the main building is a reception, a lecture room and a seated viewing area/restaurant, which overlooks the arena.

Adjacent to the main building is a four-bedroom bungalow that could provide in-house accommodation for employees.

There are five American-style barns present, which provide accommodation for the horses and ponies. Some of these have direct access to the indoor arena.

Also located throughout the five barns are numerous offices, coffee rooms and tack rooms. One of the barns is also fitted with a lofted area to provide storage.

There are a total of 37 turnout paddocks located on the 14 acres, which have been created by subdividing some of the fields to give a range of paddock sizes. These turnout paddocks are designed to cater for either single horses or small groups. There are a further three larger paddocks for grazing.

All paddocks are divided by post-and-rail fencing. The outdoor facilities are very well planned around the main yard, with two large all-weather sand arenas present. A six-bay horse walker built in 2005 and an all-weather turnout arena complete the facilities at the centre.

The facility is based only 10km from Dublin airport and is in a very attractive location for either an Irish investor or perhaps someone based abroad that requires an Irish base for their operations.

The property comes with a €1.4m asking price and is being offered by private treaty with the sale being handled by Sherry FitzGerald, Dublin.
