53 acres withdrawn at €280,000

Westmeath, a circa 53-acre holding at Cullionbeg near Mullingar was withdrawn at €280,000. Guided at €330,000, the property fell short of what was forecast on the day. Bids opened at €250,000 and two bidders drove the price to €280,000, at which point auctioneer handling the sale John Shaw of Egan Auctioneers withdrew the holding.

Shaw told Irish Country Living that negotiations are ongoing and that he was confident that a sale in the region of between the asking price and withdrawal price will be made.

The land in question is of very good quality. There are a number of derelict buildings on the property, which is currently all in tillage. A number of dairy farmers have shown interest in the parcel.

39 acres withdrawn at €11,500/acre

A 39 acre parcel was withdrawn at €11,538/acre last week. The property, located in Wolganstown in North Co Dublin, was guided in the region of €495,000 or €12,700/acre.

Handling the sale on the day, Celine Geraghty of Sherry Fitzgerald Navan, opened bidding at €450,000. While there were a number of interested parties prior to auction, no bid was provoked on the day and the property was withdrawn at €450,000.

Negotiations are currently ongoing, and it is believed that it is tillage farmers showing the greatest interest at this stage. The lands are of excellent quality and are all currently in tillage. It is in three divisions and contains road frontage.
