Less than 40% of auctions in Wicklow sold under the hammer in 2017, with a few selling after auction after withdrawl. With this in mind, a good result was welcomed as the county has one of its first auctions of 2018.

A very good-quality parcel at Ballykillageer Upper, Ballycoogue, located circa 10km from Arklow, Co Wicklow, made a solid €11,430/acre at auction. Standing on 20 acres, this decent-sized parcel finished under the hammer at €240,000 after some nice competition from the floor.

Guided at €200,000, bidding opened at €190,000 before David Quinn of Quinn Property moved proceedings along nicely. With 30 packed into the auction room, two local bidders fought it out for the prize, which was put on the market at €240,000. After a brief consultation the hammer fell for €240,000. Offered in the entire the holding has been described as a good-quality piece of dry land. Containing road frontage close to the village of Ballykillageer, it is situated behind the church in the village.

The field is laid out in three divisions and is kitted with all the basics, including water and fencing.
