Met Éireann has issued a status yellow wind warning for Co Donegal. Strong westerly winds are forecast for Friday night and for a time on Saturday.

Average speeds of 50km/h to 65 km/h, gusting to 90km/h to 110 km/h, are predicted, with a risk of stronger winds at the coasts.

The warning is in place from 5pm on Friday 13 December to 5pm on Saturday 14 December.

In other areas, widespread showers are expected, but they will be most frequent in the west. It will turn increasingly wintry tonight, with the possibility of snow accumulating over high ground.
