The team includes Michael and Francis Quigley, Andrew Kelly, Willie and Gordon Wheatley, Paddy Rowan, Wayne Burke, Sean Gorman, Stephen Quigley and Timmy Masterson. The Quigley crew have been cutting the Wheatley families grass for the past 40 years. THe grass was cut down and wilted for 48 hours before being picked up.

August With the broken weather at harvest time, “grabbing a break†means an opportunity to work rather than to stop working. This is what Nassau and Jonny Greene were doing when they grabbed this opportunity to harvest their crop of Tower winter barley at Athy, Co Kildare, earlier this week. This strip-tilled crop looked to be yielding 10t/ha and the straw was being chopped and incorporated ahead of planting a cover crop mix to help continue their soil improvement programme.
