32 acres fetches €230,000 in Kilkenny

A 32-acre residential farm, located in, Baunscoob, Dunamaggin, Kilkenny, was offered in separate lots at auction last week.

The first parcel of circa 22 acres, of what is described as prime agricultural land, was sold under the hammer for €230,000.

The bidding opened up at €150,000, rising to €210,000, at which point the property was placed on the market. It is believed that a local farmer secured the holding.

The second lot, containing the residence on circa 10 acres, was withdrawn from the market at €140,000. However, a suitable buyer was found after the auction. It is believed that a neighbouring farmer purchased this lot.

Brisk bidding in Loais as holding reaches €12,800/acre

A circa 24-acre residential holding went to auction last week in Castlemarket, Attanagh, Co Loais. The land, which is described as good-quality grazing ground, fetched an impressive €12,800/acre.

The sale, which was also handled by Pat Gannon, Auctioneer, Kilkenny, sold under the hammer for an eventual total of €308,000.

The residential property was opened up for sale at €150,000 and was eventually placed on the market at €301,000.

The holding was offered in two separate lots, with the residence and lands offered separately or in its entire.

The bidding was described as “brisk”, with high interest in both the separate lots and the lots in their entirety.

In the end, it was the entire lot that won out, settling under the hammer at €308,000.

Two further auctions will be handled by Pat Gannon this week, with one in Kilmoganny, Co Kilkenny, and the other in Williamstown, The Commons, Thurles, Co Tipperary.
