Payments under the 2020 Areas of Natural Constraints (ANC), Beef Environmental Efficiency Programme – Suckler (BEEP-S) and European Innovative Partnership (EIP) are issuing to farmers this week.

A total of €40m is set to hit the bank accounts of 86,000 farmers participating in the ANC scheme, while €40.4m is on the way to 24,400 farmers in BEEP-S.

Payments worth €5.98m under the EIP have also begun to roll out; Hen Harrier payments of approximately €4m will soon be made to 1,600 farmers.

The 454 Pearl Mussel Project participants will receive €1.2m. More than €750,000 will be paid to 328 farmers in the Burren Programme.

Support

Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue described the schemes as important support for farmers in many regions of the country who are farming in challenging environments.

The minister added that the timely processing of payments across schemes remains a key priority for his Department and urged farmers to respond quickly to any Department queries.

These schemes are expected to be closely followed by payments from the €40m Beef Data and Genomics Programme (BDGP).
