Afternoon Tea at Ashford Castle

The five-star Ashford Castle on the shores of Lough Corrib, Co Mayo, is the perfect location to indulge in traditional afternoon tea. Continuing the ritual started by Lord and Lady Ardilaun back in 1868, taking tea to discuss the events of the morning and plans for the evening, afternoon tea is open to residents and non-residents. Using the finest local artisan produce, Lord and Lady Ardilaun Traditional Afternoon Tea starts with delicate finger sandwiches, followed by freshly baked scones and selections of pastries and cupcakes, served with a selection coffees and tea leaf blends. Prices start at €29.50 per person and there are two sittings, from 2pm to 4pm and 4pm to 6pm. Younger guests are €14.50 per person. See www.ashford.ie for more.
