Figures from Animal Health Ireland (AHI) show a sharp drop in the number of PI calves born this year. However, as Paul Mooney reports, there are approximately 300 PI animals still alive on Irish farms. There is an onus on the Department of Agriculture and AHI to develop a strategy that ensures a small cohort of farmers do not hold our national eradication ambitions to ransom.
