Met Éireann and the UK Met office has warned of hazardous conditions for the coming days, with a status yellow ice warning issued for both sides of the Irish border.

Widespread severe frost and pockets of freezing fog will affect parts of the country, with some regions more severely affected.

Affected regions will include all counties in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

It compounds continued icy conditions this week and farmers are being advised to watch out for slippery yard surfaces and to prepare for frozen troughs and machinery.

The majority of soils across the country have now reached saturation point and with the slurry season set to open, farmers will be keeping a close eye on weather conditions.
