Almost 8,000 GLAS payments to farmers are being held up by the fact that their nutrient management plans (NMPs) have not yet been submitted.

Officials in the Department of Agriculture have confirmed that, as of 4 October, there were 7,924 NMPs outstanding.

Balancing payments of 15% from 2016 GLAS applications and 2017 advance payments will be held up until NMPs are submitted, the Department has already warned.

Balancing payments for the 2016 GLAS are being issued on a weekly basis as the NMPs are submitted.

However, farmers must submit their NMP before any future GLAS I and II payment, including 2017 advance payments, can issue.
