Macra na Feirme is looking for 12 to 16 acts comprising one to 20 participants each to take part in Macra na Feirme’s lip-sync battle on Saturday 19 May in the South Court Hotel, Limerick.

Each act will be required to pay an entrance fee of €1,000. This fee will set each act off on an equal footing in their fundraising efforts. Any additional fundraising done by each county/region and lodged into the Macra na Feirme bank account before Thursday 17 May will also contribute towards the overall revenue winner of the Macra na Feirme lip-sync battle.

Local fundraising is encouraged and it is expected that the initial €1,000 participation fee will be taken from any mini-fundraising that counties/regions do.

Fundraising by counties/regions can be done in many ways:

  • Hosting table quizzes.
  • Raffles.
  • Sponsorship.
  • Selling advertising space in the programme.
  • There will be three prizewinners on the final night:

  • Top revenue act.
  • Best lip-sync person.
  • Best lip-sync group.
  • Top revenue act

The revenue prize will be given to the act which raises the greatest amount of money on average per performer, eg a group of four lip-syncers who raise a total of €1,800 between them gives an average of €450 per performer, while a group of two who raise €1,800 between them will have an average of €900.

The top revenue act will also be refunded 10% of the overall amount their county has raised.

The revenue will be calculated as follows:

  • Fundraising: on all money raised through your own fundraising endeavours.
  • Ticket sales: the sale of tickets based on each performer selling their allocation of 15 tickets for the final night at €15, each with a valid Macra card and €20 for non-members. Closer to the final night more tickets may become available and should performers sell over and above their 15 allocated tickets, this too will be added to their total revenue.
  • Contestants’ votes: votes for each performer will be €2 for one vote, €5 for three votes and €10 for seven votes. These votes are only available on the night. All sponsorship, ads in the programme, ticket sales and local fundraising endeavours will already have been accounted for and will be lodged with the Macra finance manager by noon on Thursday 17 May 2018. All revenue from the votes on the night will also be added to each act’s revenue as part of winning the prize. The judge’s decision on the best lip-sync act combined with the votes obtained on the night will determine the act winners.
  • Advertising in programme: any performer can gain advertisements from local businesses for inclusion in the programme for the show. We urge performers to seek these ads from now until the end of March.
  • Best lip-sync person/group

The best lip-sync person/group will be based on the judges’ scores added to the ballot box votes on the night.

To register, you must notify the national office on 01-426 8900 or email kmarkey@macra.ie by Monday 12 March. You will also be required to pay a deposit of €200 to confirm your place.
