Governments, food safety agencies, scientists and the wider industry need to work together at national and international level to prepare for the next food scare, a conference in Belfast was told on Tuesday.

Previous crises in the agri-food industry, such as BSE in the late 1990s and the dioxin incident from 2008, were used as examples at the Belfast Summit on Food Integrity to show how lessons have been learned in preventing and dealing with food scares.
