Heifers have moved to €3.80/kg this week, as demand moves ahead of supply in the runup to Christmas. Bullock quotes have also moved upwards, with €3.75/kg being paid in a lot of factories. Angus and Hereford animals are still in demand, with as much as 20c/kg bonuses being paid on top of in-spec bonuses.
Farmers on contracts with factories have killed Angus heifers this week at €4.30/kg to €4.35/kg when in-spec payments and breed bonus payments are included. Contracted Angus-bred steers are also moving at €4.15/kg to €4.20/kg this week.
