Breed societies have made enormous progress in recent years with the impact their stands leave on visitors. With close to 300,000 people passing through the gates, societies know exactly the platform it gives to highlight all that’s good about their breed and they have adapted their stands to take full advantage of this.

While they still play host to the top prizewinners from throughout the show season, the majority of societies have now focused their efforts on showing the public what their breed can do on a commercial basis. Highlighting different breed crosses and the market their progeny fall into has, over the years, provided a feeling of confidence to those looking to adapt these systems on their home farm.

From conception to consumption, livestock stands now provide information on all aspects of farming, from the farm gate right up to the end consumer. This vast availability of information, coupled with new initiatives focused on educating school and college students, has led to the livestock stands being some the busiest on the 300-acre ploughing site.

Throughout this section, we look at some of the main livestock-based stands and see what exactly they have in store for Ploughing 2017!
