My name is Suzie O’Neill and I am the owner of Irish cosmetics brand Ayu. I am so delighted to be joining you to share my skincare and make up tips. I have over 20 years’ experience in the beauty industry, so I hope that I will be able to impart some of the great nuggets I have learned along the way.

As spring is (finally) here and the days are getting brighter, I wanted to chat about what we can do to freshen our skin up after the cold winter months.

First things first: we want to give our skin a nice polish.

For this, I love NeoStrata Correct Glycolic Microdermabrasion Polish (left, €55). This one-step exfoliating polish provides instant skin resurfacing with its active ingredient, 10% glycolic acid. It gives deep exfoliation to the skin providing a nice, radiant glow. If you’re prone to oily skin, you can use it daily, but I have sensitive skin so I only use it two to three times per week. This product is especially beneficial for farmers and those with outdoor careers – a lot of the pollutants in the air can cause build up on the skin; leading to premature ageing.

Once we have our skin sorted, you might want to give yourself a bit of a sun-kissed, healthy glow. We can’t exactly rely on the weather here to give us that, so I think I’ve found the next best thing – and it’s good for your skin, too! The Tan Organic Facial Tanning Drops (€24.99) add a subtle glow to your face and can be mixed with your daily moisturiser to ensure a nice, even finish. It has been specially formulated for delicate facial skin. TanOrganic’s Moisturising Facial Tan Oil absorbs quickly – without leaving a greasy layer – to add a natural-looking, golden tan.

I think we can all agree that, being at home as much as we are at the momen, we have shifted to wearing more lighter coverage cosmetics. I love our AYU Fresh Skin Foundation (right, €32.50).

It’s super lightweight formula (with buildable coverage) gives the skin a flawless finish, but it feels like you’re wearing no make up at all.

It is a self-setting base and with 12-hour wear, so no need for touch ups or setting with powder (who has time for that when you’re homeschooling?) It’s totally fuss-free, which I am all about. I always feel less is more when it comes to skincare, so by introducing just a few key steps into your routine it’s entirely possible to transform your skin. Personally, I find that my confidence goes up when I feel good in my skin. The last year has been hard on us all, so allow yourself to take the time to look after yourself and do things that make you feel good.

Until next time, stay safe.
