Camera at the mart attended the weekly sale of beef cattle in Dungannon Farmers’ Mart, where another solid entry of animals was met with sharp buying demand.

Prices have hardened in recent weeks, with forward cattle and lighter stores in particular returning firm prices for top-quality lots.

This Limousin bullock, born April 2017 and weighing 545kg, sold for £1,105.

Settled weather and strong grazing supplies has resulted in more buyers looking for lighter cattle to put to grass over the coming weeks, with continental heifer types a flying trade.

Commenting on the sale, mart manager Trevor Wylie said that the live trade is buoyant at present, with plenty of buying demand for all classes of stock.

This Limousin bullock, born June 2017 and weighing 555kg, sold for £1,055.

He added that forward stores are a very strong trade at the top end of the market, in comparison to the factory trade.

Prices for heavy bullocks peaked at £1,300 for a 630kg Charolais animal making 206p/kg. This was followed by £1,295 for a 620kg Charolais animal and £1,285 for a 615kg animal.

Good-quality forward stores sold to £1,160 for a 560kg Charolais animal making 207p/kg, with other stand-out prices of £1,105 for a 545kg Simmental animal and £1,100 for a 500kg Limousin.

Lighter types sold from £720 to £1,000 for a 465kg Limousin, with a top price per kilo of 268p/kg for a 355kg Charolais making £950.

This Belgian Blue bullock, born January 2018 and weighing 330kg, sold for £830.

Heifers sold to a top price of £1,455 for a 735kg Limousin followed by £1,165 for another Limousin weighing 570kg.

Good-quality heifers sold from £1,035 for a 495kg Charolais to £1,080 for a 540kg Limousin animal.

This Charolais bullock, born January 2017 and weighing 620kg, sold for £1,295.

Lighter heifers sold from £800 for a 400kg Limousin rising to £1,035 for Charolais types weighing 490kg.

Male weanlings sold from £650 for a 225kg Limousin rising to £940 for another Limousin animal weighing 365kg.

This Charolais bullock, born April 2017 and weighing 610kg, sold for £1,200.

Heifer weanlings sold from £530 for a 205kg animal rising to a top price of £820 for a 355kg Limousin, with a general price range of 232p to 258p/kg on offer.

Drop calves sold to a top price of £315 for a Fleckvieh bull calf followed by £290 for a Limousin bull.

This Charolais bullock, born June 2017 and weighing 625kg, sold for £1,205.

Blue bull calves sold to £250, with Angus bull calves sold to £235 and Hereford bulls selling to £220. Friesian bulls sold from £38 to £155.

This Charolais heifer, born March 2018 and weighing 600kg, sold for £1,040.

This Limousin heifer, born April 2017 and weighing 475kg, sold for £930.

This Aberdeen Angus heifer, born March 2017 and weighing 500kg, sold for £855.

This Belgian Blue cow, born December 2016, sold for £1,120.
