The prolonged and sustained wet weather, particularly in the west, has taken its toll.

Some farmers along the western half of the country have been forced to rehouse cattle as the bad weather continues. Granted it’s not a widespread occurrence, but farmers are taking precautions as ground conditions deteriorate and grass growth slows. In fact, on bank holiday Monday Met Éireann issued a status yellow warning.

The unpredictable weather is expected to continue and a risk of rain remains, but Met Éireann is forecasting more in the way of settled, dry weather for next week.
