Opportunities to acquire top-quality ewes from genuine flock dispersal sales don’t come about too often in the Kilkenny region.

As such, there is a high level of interest in a dispersal sale of 120 two-, three- and four-year old ewes being offered for sale in Kilkenny Mart next Monday 25 January.

The flock comprises 90% Suffolk-cross ewes, which are scanned to lamb to purebred registered Charollais rams from 1 February on.

There is an average scanning rate of 1.7 lambs per ewe, with ewes on a clostridial disease vaccination programme (vaccinated with Heptavac-P Plus).

Mart manager Michael Lynch described the flock as one of the best he has seen come on offer in recent years: “The flock is a genuine dispersal and includes excellent-quality ewes, as good as I have seen offered through the mart in recent years.

Excellent opportunity

“It is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to expand numbers and looking for ewes in prime order for lambing.

“All health treatments are up to date and ewes are ready to hit the ground running.”

Ewes will be offered for sale in lots of 10, with viewing from 10am on Monday. The is sale due to start around 11am.

It will take place on the MartBids online platform and anyone seeking further information can phone the mart office on 056-772 1407 or 087-994 2789.
