Roisin Hennerty, managing director of Ornua Global Foods Division and John Malone, former Secretary General of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine are the latest recruits to join the Animal Health Ireland (AHI) board.

Roisin Hennerty oversaw a portfolio of brands sold in over 100 countries.

She was also part of the team that led the Kerrygold brand from market entry to its position today as the number two butter brand and the number one cheddar brand in the US.

John Malone served as secretary general of the Department of Agriculture and Food from 1997 to 2004.

He was involved in policy work as well as trade negotiations. He also had a central involvement in the creation of Irish Cattle Breeding Federation (ICBF) and was the organisation's first chair.

These two appointments represent the first of a number of new board appointees in the next two years as current board members reach the end of their period of office.

Retiring members

Joe Collins and Robin Talbot, two retiring board members received praise from chair of the AHI Mike Magan.

He said: "Joe and Robin have been on the board of AHI since it was launched in 2009 and over that 10-year period, their contribution, enthusiasm and dedication to their role as Board members has benefited the organisation enormously and I would like to thank them both sincerely for their involvement."
