European Commissioner for Agriculture is the keynote speaker at this year’s Irish Farmers Journal Navigating Global Trade event.

Brexit, the next Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and global trading conditions will all be on the agenda.

Following his address, the Commissioner will take part in a question and answer session with Irish Farmers Journal editor and CEO Justin McCarthy.

John Clarke, director at DG Agri and David Taylor the New Zealand ambassador to the EU and NATO will then take part in a forum hosted by Irish Farmers Journal market specialist Phelim O’Neill.

On the agenda here will be agriculture perspective on EU trade deals, New Zealand and global trade, EU relations and Brexit from New Zealand perspective.

Secretary general

The secretary general at the Department of Agriculture Brendan Gleeson will then look at the impact of CAP, Brexit and global trade on Irish agriculture.

The final topic on the agenda on the day will take the form of a panel discussion and the panel will reflect on the opening remarks by each participant earlier on that morning.

The panel will include: Anne Randles of Ornua, Professor Colm McCarthy, economist and commentator, Peter Legge, partner, Grant Thornton and Joe Healy, IFA president.

Navigating Global Trade, is in association with Grant Thornton, and will kick off at 8am on Friday 15 March 2019 at the RDS.
