Bord Bia’s aim is to promote Irish food, drink and horticulture in Ireland and around the world. In partnership with industry and through market expertise and insight they act as the vital link between Irish food, producers and both existing and potential customers around the world.

Their main objective is to develop and maintain markets for Irish suppliers and to bring the taste of quality Irish food to the four corners of the world. Headquartered in Dublin, Bord Bia has a network of other offices in Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, London, Madrid, Milan, Moscow, New York, Paris, Shanghai, Stockholm, Dubai, Milan, Singapore and Warsaw. They are well placed to promote and spread the word about Ireland’s quality produce and to help develop new gateways for Irish food across the world.

Bord Bia also runs various quality assurance schemes such as their Sustainable Dairy Assurance Scheme (SDAS). This was developed between milk producers, processors and regulatory authorities in order to assist in securing new and existing markets for Irish dairy produce as farmers look to increase milk production. It sets out the necessary requirements to produce quality milk and in addition the scheme has also been designed to assess and record data to demonstrate the sustainability of Irish dairying at individual farm level. Through doing this they can prove to customers that the product they are receiving meets both the highest quality and sustainability requirements. Bord Bia’s chief executive is Tara McCarthy and recently appointed dairy sector analyst is Eimear O’Donnell.
