I see Cork GAA is to sell off a tasty plot of land on the city’s northside to pay off debt taken on for the revamp of Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The 21ac plot in Kilbarry is expected to go on sale in the new year, with the Irish Examiner reporting a likely price of between €15-€21m for the land. That would equate to between €714,000/ac and €1m/ac.

For dairy farmers whose ears pricked up at the sound of land for sale in Cork, the bad news is that the plot is not zoned as agricultural land, but as development for light industry.
