Cork man Liam O’Driscoll recently took delivery of a new 240hp Russian built tractor.

The Kirovets K424 arrived into the port in Cork last Wednesday on a flatbed open roof container.

Liam won the articulated tractor at the European Ploughing Championships back in June after being crowned the European reversible ploughing champion.

The bulky tractor weighs in at over 11t, has a 6t rear lift capacity and a 3.5t front linkage lift capacity.

Many of the components are built by Kirovets, but the tractor is equipped with Bosch hydraulics and a 40km/h transmission from the well-known manufacturer ZF.

Liam said a service engineer from Kirovets, Vladimir Sobolev, travelled from Russia on Tuesday (15 January) to help him get to grips with the tractor.

Liam explained that since the tractor landed there have been people calling to have a look at it every day.

He also noted that he intends to keep the tractor and use it for both his haylage and plant hire businesses.
