Balmoral Show is the biggest event casualty of coronavirus to date on the island of Ireland, with the show postponed until 19 to 22 August. Over 120,000 attended the event in 2019.

All Teagasc farm walks, conferences and seminars have been postponed.

The March meeting of the Beef Market Taskforce has also been postponed.

Farm organisations including the IFA, ICMSA, ICSA, INHFA and UFU have suspended all upcoming meetings.

All remaining National Ploughing Association ploughing matches have also been postponed.

In the UK, the Royal Highland Show in June has been cancelled and the Grassland and Muck event has been postponed. Ireland’s FTMTA Grass & Muck, scheduled for 14 May is currently going ahead as planned.

UCD has postponed examinations scheduled for March and there will be no face-to-face teaching or meetings on campus. It has asked students on placement to only continue if they are comfortable doing so and not to travel to European countries or other countries affected by the virus.

All Teagasc colleges are closed.
