Single farmers are being sought for a new TV show called Country Love. Irish production company Kite Entertainment is creating a new dating programme where it matches people living in rural Ireland to find love.

Casting producer Jane Taaffe said: “It can be really difficult for single people living in the countryside to get the opportunity to meet new people and date. There’s lots of really great singletons across the country who just don’t get the chance for whatever reason.”

How the show works

Casting producers will select six people from rural Ireland to star in the show. Their profile will be put online for potential daters to view.

Researchers for the programme will then select the most suitable candidates from those who have shown an interest in the profile and present their information to the singleton. From the selection, the singleton will select two potential partners of their choice and take them on a date.

“Anybody can apply," said Jane. “We’re looking for old and young, males and females. Farmers tend to be quite isolated and tied to one place with their farms, so it would suit them quite well, a nice farmer over 40 would be ideal, but anyone can apply, they don’t have to be farmers, they could just be living on an island or somewhere a bit isolated.”

The date

The chosen candidate will visit the singleton in their home town to see how well they get involved with rural life and if it works for them. The show is due to be filmed during the months of April and May.

“We know that it’s an incredibly busy time for farmers, but it could be good too. It would reflect the type of lifestyle well and would get rid of people who weren’t serious,” said Jane.
