Back to Clifden for Caitriona

Caitriona Ní Cheannabháin takes her stage show, Songs from the Mists, back to the Clifden Station House Theatre on Saturday night 15 December. It was here that she launched the show before a sell-out audience earlier in the year.

Since then she has performed it in the Taibhdhearc in Galway, Áras Chrónáin in Clondalkin, Dublin; at the Mullingar Arts Centre and Rathcairn in Co Meath.

There will be a Christmas seasonal flavour to the show in Clifden this weekend and Caitriona is looking forward to another memorable night in her native Connemara. She will once again be joined by a host of guests for this big night.

Songs from the Mists gets underway at 8.30pm and admission is €15.

Gospel theme from Bernie Heaney

Kildare singer Bernie Heaney goes back through the years for her new single, The Man from Galilee. Under the title Put Your Hand In The Hand, this was a huge song for Anne Murray back in 1970 when the Canadian singer took it to number two in the charts. The song was composed by Canadian writer Gene MacLellan, who died in tragic circumstances in 1995.

Bernie’s latest release looks set to pick up decent airplay during the Christmas season and will also be included on a forthcoming album. It was produced by Wayne Thorose in his studios in Co Roscommon.

Old Christmas Waltz from Trudi

Trudi Lalor has a real seasonal flavour to her brand new single, The Old Christmas Waltz. This nostalgic song was composed by Billy Morrissey and was produced by Fran Curry and Peter Maher at Gaf Studios, New Inn, Co Tipperary.

The Laois native presents a popular music and request show on Tipp FM and is also busy on the concert circuit. She has recorded a number of songs penned by Billy over the last few years.

Larissa’s tribute to her mother

Ireland’s only Russian country singer, Larissa Tormey, has released a revered gospel song as her new single. Far Side Banks of Jordan goes back to the days of the Carter Family and Larissa fell in love with the song after hearing Big Tom and others perform it on radio and at shows.

Now living on a farm in Kilbeggan, Larissa’s story has been featured here in Irish Country Living and on the national airwaves. She has dedicated her version of Far Side Banks of Jordan in memory of her mother, who passed away from cancer some years ago.

Eddie back on track

Eddie Carey returns to the recording scene with an American country song, Jesus Take The Wheel.

The song was a major success for Carrie Underwood in the USA and Eddie is hoping that it will hit the right notes for radio play here in Ireland, especially during the Christmas season.

This is the follow-up to a number of other songs by the Limerick man, including Murphy’s Bar, I Told You So, and Hold You In My Arms. Eddie and the band are looking forward to a busy season ahead. Emerald Isle Entertainments is in charge of the diary and can be contacted on 087-9181540.
