I see Greencore’s Patrick Coveney is packing his bags to spend half his time in the US to drive on its underperforming business out there, following the €700m acquisition of Peacock Foods.

Shareholders will be anxious to see what the handsomely paid chief executive’s next move is.

During the decade in which Coveney has been head of Greencore, shareholders have seen the share price fall by almost two-thirds from the peak.

In the same time other Irish food companies such as Glanbia and Kerry Group have seen their share price more than double.
