Dairy farmers are expected to have soiled water storage based on 30l of soiled water being produced per cow per day.

Three weeks of soiled water storage is to be in place by December 2023 and four weeks in place by December 2024.

In response to a query by the Irish Farmers Journal, a spokesperson for the Department of Agriculture said that the 30l figure could be revised based on a Teagasc survey of soiled water production across different milking facilities.
