Victory in the TRM/HSI New Heights Champions Series on Sunday went to Captain Geoff Curran. Riding Ringwood Glen, the army rider was fastest of the five double clears in the 12-way jump-off. Bred by Ray O’ Reilly, the 14-year-old gelding (VDL Arkansas x Kilglass Pennistone) was produced by Ringwood Stud. This family run stud farm and has been in the Leonard family since 1860. Peter took over the family business from his father the late Michael Leonard - a renowned producer and judge of Irish horses. Ringwood Glen has had much success since moving to the Army Equitation School, including being part of the winning Nations Cup team in Drammen with Curran.

Liam O’ Meara took the runner-up spot with Russel Style, finishing fractions behind Curran. Bred by Eamon Kenny and now owned by Liam’s wife Helen, Russel Style is an eight-year-old by Russel and out of a Harlequin Du Carel sired dam, Cruisings Carol.

Nicholas Butler came home in thrid with Vimminka. Francis Connors and Erne LadyGoldilocks delivered a clear round to finish fourth. Owned by Hugh Fitzpatrick, this 11-year-old mare is by VDL Douglas and out of Erne Touch.

In fifth was Peter Smyth and Roscrib de Ross, who were last of the double clears.

Bred by David Henry and owned by William Todd, Roscrib de Ross is an 11-year-old gelding, by Varo and out of the Flagmount King sired dam, Diamond Clover Betty.

National Grand Prix

Jessica Burke won the SJI National Grand Prix in Mullingar with Clonguish Vivaro.

From 54 starters, 10 combinations proceeded to the jump-off with six riders jumping double clears.

Bred and owned by Bernard and Josephine Jordan, Clonguish Vivaro is a nine-year-old gelding by Vivaldo Van Het Costersveild and out of the Tanaos sired dam, Clonguish Gold. The Jordans have had much success with the dam Clonguish Gold, with seven offspring registered from her.

Liam O’Meara cemented his position at the top of the leaderboard when second with Curraighgruaige Jack Take Flight. O’Meara also took fifth with Russel Style.

Adrienne Dixon was almost a second behind with Killossery Kaiden in 39.07 for third. Bred by Frank and Laura Glynn and owned by BG Equine, Killossery Kaiden is an eight-year-old gelding by Lux Z and out of Killossery Kruisette. As a six-year-old she was crowned six-year-old league winner of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series and went on to win gold at Lanaken with Ger O’ Neill.

Paul Carberry and Brandonview First Edition slotted into fourth. Bred by Seamus Drea, the gelding is an eight-year-old by Douglas Cavalier and out of Brandonview Lady.

Cormac Rafferty was the last of the double clears finishing sixth with KMR Benzini. This 10-year-old (Morgangold Major x Benzini Belle) is owned by Aoife Rafferty, and was bred by Carol McLaughlin in Donegal.

Leinster Summer Tour

Mullingar also hosted a round of the Mervue Equine Leinster Summer Tour. In the 1.35m, victory went to Peter Smyth and Cruising Lux.

Owned by Kathleen Gallagher, the 13-year-old mare is by Lux Z and out of Cruising line.

Cormac Rafferty won the 1.20m division with Torebeag. Sean Kavanagh posted the fastest round to win the 1.10m class with Carraigh Samraigh.

Mullingar also hosted the Young Rider, Junior and Children on Horses Championships, however, no results were available.
