Two multipurpose farms either side of Trim in Co Meath will hit the auction room floor on 6 June.

Overseeing the sale is Stephen Barry of Raymond Potterton Auctioneers. He will be hoping that the reasonable guides of €9,000/ac and €10,000/ac respectively for both farms will be enough to ensure a battle and that enough bidders will be present to exchange fire.

The farms themselves are located in the townlands Bellewstown and Clondavin. Both are described by Barry as both super farms with great potential. They are both being sold by the same vendor.

Bellewstown guided at €10,000/ac

The first up is that of Bellewstown, just 4km from Trim. Encompassing 56 acres in total, it is a fine fattening farm. However, the farm has the potential to suit any agricultural enterprise, according to the agent.

While it has been in grass for the last 10 years, it was set in tillage previously. It is currently used for grazing and has been rented for the last number of years but has been kept in very good condition at that.

Fifty-six acres in Bellewstown, Co Meath is guided for €10,000/ac.

All the necessary provisions, such as fencing, water and electricity are all in place. A hedgerow and a number of mature trees ensure that the farm has ample shelter for livestock.

The property is laid out in large fields but is all in one block. For a livestock farmer this can be subdivided depending on the grazing system installed whilst for a tillage farmer, the large open fields would be beneficial.

The farm at Bellewstown border the River Boyne.

The farm borders the Boyne River, with circa 400 metres of river frontage. It is fertile ground with a deep loam soil. This package is guided at €560,000 or €10,000/ac. Barry noted that there is significant interest from local farmers surrounding the farm, with enquiries busy.

Clondavin guided €9,000/ac-€10,000/ac

The second of the farms is a lovely piece of ground on the opposite side of Trim, to that of Bellewstown. The 60 acres here is located on the edge of Trim town itself and similarly to Bellewstown, it is a grass farm.

The land in Clondavin, Co Meath.

The property is laid out in three divisions, including one larger field and two smaller divisions. It has also been rented out for the last five years and has been maintained well. It is well fenced and has a water supply. While its location is an attractive selling point, the agent noted that there are strong farmers in the locality, from a number of enterprises. The holding also includes a hayshed and a lean-to as well as the land. The overall guide for the farm is between €540,000 and €600,000 or €9,000/ac and €10,000/ac.

Auction

Both farms came to the market in the middle of May. D-day for the auctions is 6 June in Raymond Potterton’s showrooms.
