Milk production in Ireland and Poland remains in growth mode this year as we move into the final months of 2020. New figures show milk production in Ireland for the month of September stood at just under 730m litres, which was up 1.4% on the same month last year.

This brings Irish milk production for the first nine months of 2020 (Jan-Sept) to a cumulative 6.9bn litres, which is 3% ahead of last year. At this rate of growth, milk production in Ireland for 2020 is set to hit a new record of 8.2bn litres.

After Ireland, the strongest growth in milk production in recent years across Europe has come from Poland’s dairy sector. For September, Polish milk production stood at 965m litres, which is 2.5% ahead of the same month last year.

This brings Polish milk production for the first nine months of 2020 (Jan-Sept) to a cumulative 9.2bn litres, which is almost 3% ahead of last year. Polish milk production is on track to hit 12bn litres for 2020.
