The pace of growth in Polish milk production showed a marked slowdown for the month of July. New figures released by Eurostat show Polish milk collections for July stood at just over 1bn litres, which is up 2% on the same month last year.

While Polish milk production is still in growth mode, the pace of growth in July has slowed compared to June, when monthly milk collections were up almost 5% year-on-year. The July figures brings Polish milk production for the first seven months of 2020 to a cumulative 7.2bn litres, which is 2.7%, or almost 190m litres, ahead of the same period last year.

Like Ireland, the Polish dairy industry has been in expansion mode since the abolition of milk quotas in 2015. Polish milk production for 2020 is on course to be close to 12bn litres, which is almost double the volume of milk Polish dairy farmers were producing in 2015.
