Dairygold has announced a 2020 contract price for beans of €205/t. The price was announced at the co-op's annual spring conference, which took place in Co Cork this week.
The co-op's commitment to maximising its use of native Irish, including cereals and beans, across its range of feedstuffs was reiterated at the conference.
Spring beans seed is reportedly in high demand this year due to larger than normal spring crop area. Growers are encouraged to order seed as early as possible to ensure their seed demands are met.
While details of the 2020 protein aid scheme have yet to be announced, in correspondence to the Irish Farmers Journal, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine said: “Arrangements are being finalised for the opening of the 2020 direct payment schemes, including protein aid.”
