Despite the bad weather, a crowd of over 1,000 people attended the February monthly auction. There was a very brisk trade with a 85% clearance of almost 700 lots, with some exceptional prices for clean equipment.

The sale topper was a 1992 Ford 8210 with high hours, which was bought by a Clare-based farmer for €8,000. Other top prices included an early 1990s Hitachi EX60 6t Digger, NC 16T Dump Trailer, and 1992 JCB 130-10 Loadall Teleporter, which all sold in the €7,000s, and a Ferry 20’ Grain Trailer auctioned for €6,100.

There were also a number of well-minded Lely 675 and 770 6 Rotor Silage Tedders, which sold for between €4,500 and €5,400. John Hennessy commented that there was a great attendance of buyer from all over Ireland and despite the tricky weather a large crowd hung around until the very last lot of the day.

The trade in the indoor auction for garden and plant power tools was slower than usual with a Husqvarna 3120XP Professional Chainsaw topping the sale at €1,000. However, auctioneer John Hennessy expects the trade for power tools to pick up as we go into the summer months, with the next auction scheduled for Saturday 19 March.
