There was a seasonal entry of over 317 cattle at last Thursday’s sale at Castlerea Mart, which was met with strong demand. Mart manager Brendan Egan said that the demand for quality stores and weanlings was solid and prices reflected it. Heavy bullocks were said to have sold at similar prices to recent weeks.

Those from 500kg to 600kg sold mainly from €2.15/kg to €2.25/kg for average-quality types, with U grades selling frequently from €2.30/kg to €2.40/kg.
