The Department of Agriculture is to review cases where growers have missed this week’s deadline to plant catch crops.

Difficult harvest weather and a delay in clearing fields have resulted in many growers missing the deadline for planting catch crops this year.

GLAS and greening

Farmers who are committed to sowing catch crops under GLAS or for their greening commitments must have done so by 15 September.

Despite good progress being made in clearing fields over the past week, many catch crops have yet to be sown.

Farmers who were unable to meet the 15 September deadline are being urged to contact the Department with details of the parcels that are not yet sown. These will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Farmers can contact the Department on greening@agriculture.gov.ie (076-106 4424) and glas@agriculture.gov.ie (076-106 4451).
