The Department of Agriculture has written to advisers and consultants to inform them that the deadline for submitting slurry export records for farmers operating under a nitrates derogation has been extended to 31 December 2020.
The deadline for such farmers to submit the 2020 Record 3 Form (denoting imports and exports of slurry) to the Department’s nitrates division had been set for 31 October 2020, with this deadline printed on the form.
The Department stated that this allowance was being given due to unprecedented circumstances and that the 31 October deadline would be applied in 2021.
Reminder
The Department is encouraging submission of forms as early as possible for all farmers so that they can begin recording the information.
It has also given a reminder that slurry imports are not allowable by farmers availing of the nitrates derogation.
The circular stated: “I would also like to remind you that it is prohibited for derogation applications to import organic manure. Importation will result in the rejection of the derogation, thus placing the 170kg N/ha limit back on that herdowner, this will more than likely result in a penalty for that herdowner.”
