Blue route from Cork/Munster area

Traffic travelling northbound on the M8 will exit at junction four Urlingford and proceed to Johnstown and Durrow via the R639. Traffic will proceed towards Ballyragget via the N77 and continue to Kilkenny. Traffic will then turn left on to the N10 via the Hebron road roundabout, following directions to the M9, before joining the M9 at junction eight. Exit the M9 at junction six, Powerstown, and continue on the R448. Traffic will then turn right at Milford cross, followed by another right on to the N80.

  • Yellow route from Waterford

    Traffic travelling northbound on the M9 from Waterford will exit at junction nine, Dansfort and proceed towards and through Bennettsbridge on to the Gowran road, then divert right towards Goresbridge via R702. Following on to Borris, traffic will turn left at Kavanagh’s public house on to the Fenagh road. Traffic will then be directed through Fenagh village to the event.

  • Brown route from Limerick

    Traffic travelling northbound on the M7 will exit at junction 21 (Borris-In-Ossory) and proceed to Ballycolla via R434. Traffic will then turn left at the lights in Ballycolla continuing to Abbeyleix via R433 followed by a second left off the R433 and continue to the traffic lights. Traffic will then turn right on to the Carlow road R430, proceeding through the Swan towards Newtown Cross. At Newtown Cross turn left before an immediate right at Fleming’s public house (signposted Carlow). At Molloy’s Cross, Tolerton, turn right onto the R431 for Castlecomer. Continue on that road before turning left on to the L3896 for Rossmore.

    Traffic will then travel through Ballinabranagh towards Milford, turning right at the T-junction at Milford Lough for Leighlinbridge and follow straight to the T-junction with the R448 (Old Carlow-Kilkenny road). Then turn left towards Leighlinbridge before turning right at the R705 followed by another left on to the Tullow Road at the Lord Bagenal Hotel. Follow that road towards Harrow Cross and onwards to Nurney, where traffic will be directed.

  • Purple route from Dublin/north

    Traffic from Dublin/M50 will travel on the M7 exiting on to the M9 at junction 11 signposted for Waterford and Kilkenny. Then continue on the M9 before exiting at Junction four for Carlow-Castledermot. Then take the third exit and continue towards Carlow R448 to the roundabout at MSD and take the first exit for Hacketstown and Tullow. Continue to the T-junction on the Hacketstown road, turn left travelling on to Bennekerry Cross and then turn right. Follow to Kernanstown T-junction, turn right for Sion Cross and turn left at the cross for Rathoe. Continue on to Kellistown Cross, turning right for Fighting Cocks, where traffic will be directed to the site.

  • Green route from Galway/west

    Traffic from the west will exit M6 at junction five and travel the N52 to the Clonminch roundabout, taking the first exit on to the N80 for Portlaoise and Mountmellick. Travel through Mountmellick, through Emo, into New Inn Cross roundabout near Finline Furniture and take left onto the R445.

    Continue past the Gandon Inn and take the second exit off the roundabout for Vicarstown R422. Follow the R427 to the Cloney crossroads T-junction with the R417. Traffic will then turn right travelling towards Kilberry up to Bert Cross, followed by a left on to the L8067. Continue to Russlestown cross, turning right towards Athy.

    Then take the first exit for Ballitore N78 at the Athy roundabout. Continue towards Ballitore and Timolin, turning right on to the Castledermot Road, R448. Follow through Castledermot and turn left at O’Neill’s public house for Tullow. Follow through Killerrig cross to Bohernabeakey T-junction, turning right for Grangeford. At the cross, turn right, then left into Rathoe, continuing towards Carlow Pre-cast, eventually turning right on to the N80, where traffic will be directed.

  • Grey route from Wexford

    Traffic from Wexford will travel on the N80 through Bunclody towards Carlow, to Ballon on the N80 and past Ballykealey House. Traffic will be diverted from there to the site.

  • Orange route from Wicklow

    Traffic travelling on the N81 from Blessington will continue travelling through Baltinglass, Rathvilly, through Tullow and over the bridge to Closh Cross on the N81. Traffic will then turn right on to the N80, continuing through Ballon and Ballykealy House. Traffic will be directed to the site from here.

  • Alternative transport

    For anyone not driving, Bus Éireann is offering a shuttle bus service from Carlow train station (15 minutes from the site) to the event. Those driving are advised to factor in at least double the normal journey time as heavy volumes of traffic are expected.

    Once arrived, you should note the colour of the overhead flying blimp and the number/colour/animal sign in your car park so you can easily identify where you parked.
