The board of the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation held its annual general meeting on Thursday and two changes to the board were announced.

Ger Ryan, chief executive of Dovea Genetics, based near Thurles in Co Tipperary, was not renominated as a representative of the AI organisations.

Until Thursday, there were three AI company representatives – Patrick Kelly, Donegal, representing Progressive Genetics; Kevin Coffey, chief executive of Munster AI; and Ger Ryan of Dovea.

When the nominations for the AGM were submitted, Kevin Coffey and Patrick Kelly were renominated while Ger Ryan’s seat was allocated to Bernard Eivers, chief executive of the National Cattle Breeding Centre (NCBC) – the joint venture between Munster and Progressive.

The other change on the board saw Angus Woods, IFA’s current livestock chair, take over the seat of former IFA livestock chair Henry Burns.
