The Irish Farmers Journal understands that discussions between Kerry Group and Kerry Co-op will likely continue behind the scenes over the coming weeks with a view to finalising wording for future contracts and negotiating any further money owed.

The current milk contract with suppliers runs to 2025, but some sources suggest that any final agreement will see wording change in the contract.

If this should happen, it should remove any ambiguity on how milk price will be calculated or milk price expectations from 2020 to 2025.

Some sources also indicate that more money is owed to farmers depending on how you interpret the “leading”milk price and that this must be paid out and agreed before January.
