Dowra Mart has cancelled its sheep and cattle sales due to be held on 23 April and 24 April.

Mart manager Terry McGovern told the Irish Farmers Journal that “a couple of staff have been identified as close contacts of confirmed COVID-19 cases”.

The sales are cancelled following HSE guidelines as “a precautionary measure”, he added.

Sales will resume at Dowra next Friday 30 April and Saturday 1 May.

Elphin Mart sales cancelled

Elphin Mart cancelled its Wednesday sale this week and has also cancelled its sale for next Monday following HSE advice after a mart customer was confirmed as a close contact of a person with COVID-19.

Mart manager Gerry Connellan said that he and the mart committee took the decision to cancel the sales in the interest of the health and safety of staff and customers.

Elphin will be back up and running next Wednesday 28 April.
