Dunblane abattoir shut on Tuesday 6 February after over 40 years of trade. Mr Stevenson, who owns the abattoir said: “We are no longer accepting animals for slaughter, our final kill was on Tuesday. There are several reasons for the closure. We are in talks, but can’t say too much at the moment.”

The abattoir is a traditional slaughterhouse providing contract kills for high-street butchers. Recently the abattoir had typically been killing 40 cattle a week, 100 to 120 sheep and 80 pigs.
