All forest owners and those interested in forestry are invited to an annual general meeting (AGM), hosted by the North East Forestry Group (NEFG).

The group represents forest owners across Cavan, Louth, Meath and Monaghan. The meeting will be held at the Teagasc Office, Kells Road, Navan, Co Meath, on Wednesday 15 January at 7pm.

Details of how the Group Forest Certification Scheme will be expanded to forest owners who wish to have their forest Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified will be outlined at the meeting. The NEFG is the only private forest owners group to have their woodlands FSC certified.

Support

Forestry adviser Kevin O’Connell will outline the proposed ash dieback treatment support scheme that is currently out for stakeholder consultation.

Chair John Sherlock said: “This is an issue that affects all forestry owners, this insidious disease is now unstoppable. I would urge anyone affected to take the time to review this suggested programme and respond.”

The meeting is open to current and prospective group members and private forest owners who wish to join the group.

Annual membership subscription is €30 per member.
