Dubarry

Even though autumn is only settling in, Dubarry is always thinking ahead and is ready to showcase its latest autumn/winter collection at this year’s Ploughing. It has some exciting new boots on offer for the season and Ploughing 2017 will see the company launch on the Irish market for the first time its new dry-wax jackets for men and women. The jackets have quintessential Irish names; the men’s jacket is Carrickfergus and the women’s jacket is Mountrath. They have been created by Dubarry’s Irish design team and boast primaloft technology lining, giving lightweight insulation from the cold. They are perfect for country pursuits and are investment pieces for the Irish climate.

Back by popular demand this year is the Portwest All-Ireland Wellington Throwing Competition. For a small donation, participants will be able to avail of three throws and whoever gets the welly the furthest will be crowned the All-Ireland Portwest Welly Throwing Champion. All proceeds will be donated to local charities and amenities.

Portwest will also be launching its Carla jacket in a new burgundy colour. To celebrate this, the jacket will be selling at the special price of €65 at the Ploughing; the normal retail price is €135. The jacket is made from a water-resistant, soft shell fabric and includes a storm flap for neck protection, adjustable hood, zipped pocket, adjustable waist and drawcord hem. As always, Portwest will be holding its warehouse sale at the Ploughing. There will also be a range of safety clothing on sale, including high-visibility work trousers, coveralls, safety footwear and the Sealtex rainwear line.

There has always been a passion for fashion at the Ploughing and this year is no different, with the NPA fashion shows taking place daily at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

The Holman Lee Modelling Agency will be partnering the NPA once again this year and fashionista Celia Holman Lee will act as compere during each show.

Some of the participating boutiques and fashion outlets taking part include Vanity Fair in Newbridge, Bella Mariee Bridal in Athboy and Stables at The Emporium in Birr.

This year, the ever popular most appropriately dressed lady will win a prize of over €3,000 and a weekend escape for two at the G Hotel, staying in the luxurious Linda Evangelista Suite.

Not only out to spoil the ladies who attend the National Ploughing Championships on Wednesday 20 September, the men too are in for a designer treat.

The most appropriately dressed gentleman will receive a prize of a custom-made suit sponsored by Louis Copeland and a weekend away in the Bridge House Hotel.
