Forestry owners will have the chance to join Knowledge Transfer (KT) groups after the Minister of State for Agriculture Andrew Doyle announced plans to roll out a new KT scheme for forestry owners.

The announcement came on 15 August and the scheme will run in a similar way to KT schemes set up for other sectors, with each group comprising of a maximum of 20 participants.

Participants must attend seven meetings or outdoor events and a maximum payment of €490 will apply to each participant.

“Knowledge transfer groups are well established in other sectors and I am very pleased to be announcing them for the forestry sector now,” Minister Doyle said.

“They have a clearly defined role for the forestry sector now and by filling this knowledge gap, a potential barrier to the mobilisation of timber and biomass can be removed.”
