I thought I misheard someone last week when they pronounced farming as “forming”. While you may think I was in Dublin 4 when I heard the comment, I can assure you I wasn’t.

The word came from the mouth of a farmer from the southwest of the country when he was describing sofa farmers – those who, at a minimum, fill out forms to get payments rather than those who actually farm actively day in, day out.

It will be interesting to see if “forming” is as common in the next Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
